The 15th day of the Hindu month of Kartika is when we celebrate Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. Diwali is celebrated over five days by placing small lamps and lights around shops and homes, as well as eating delicious sweets. The holiday recognizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil.

While Diwali is celebrated by Hindus all over the world, it’s recognized as a national holiday in India, Trinidad and Tobago, Myanmar, Nepal, Mauritius, Guyana, Singapore, Surinam, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Fiji.
